ADVENTURE OF ITS OWN
My trip to the store to get the food turned into an adventure of its own. Who would have thought that I would have run into Mr. Callahan? Mr. Callahan is a big basketball fan and is watching the playoffs and the NBA finals. I asked him if he would like to come to our party, and he said yes. Mr. Callahan is in my diabetes support group, and is 95 years old, but is in much better shape than I am. He runs every days, lifts weights every other day, and is training for the Chicago and Boston Marathons. He is now running five to six minute miles. I can barely drive that fast. Imagine? I asked him what his secret was once, and he laughed. He said I didn’t want to know. I said I did. What and how did he do it? He said that he ate hot dogs, steaks and hamburgers and every other bad thing, all the time. He loved junk food. He also was a smoker years ago, and still lights up a cigar. So I invited Mr. Callahan, and told him to bring his girlfriend. His girlfriend is much younger than him, but she has said that she can barely keep up with him. So I went and got my food, and ended up inviting the butcher, the baker but not the candlestick maker –but almost everybody in between. Tara was furious.
